The guiding light of positive energy and the primordial power of music will catch even the most stubborn fun! Hypnotic Brass Ensemble is the most amazing and dancing family collective playing wind instruments! They are brothers, sons of trumpeter Phil Cohran, co-founder of the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra.
They began in their hometown of Chicago as Phil Cohran Youth Ensemble, they played mainly on the streets and in subway stations. Their fame quickly reached a wide audience and ... the music industry. Their charm could not resist and they invited to joint recordings and concerts: Erykah Badu, Prince, Mos Def, Wu Tang Clan, De la Soul, and Damon Albarn (from the famous groups Blur and Gorillaz) decided not only to invite them to concerts, but also to publish their albums and promote them whenever possible.
Describing their concerts is pointless, and common terms such as "hurricane", "storm" or "tornado" do not even partially reflect what is happening both on the stage and in the audience. Not without reason, HBE are known as "The Bad Boys of Jazz".
If there are any concerts at the moment, they certainly include Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. The Cochrane brothers from Chicago prove that jazz is still lively and attractive music, and if you replace it with funk, soul and hip-hop you will get a staggering mix!
The album debut of HBE took place in 2004, despite their young age, they slowly become classics. Their most popular song, "War", hit the soundtrack of the blockbuster movie "The Hunger Games", but in the depths of their soul they still feel an insolent and crazy street band!
They love club concerts, but they can also warm up the audience of great events - they played on the main stages of the largest outdoor festivals, including Glastonbury and Roskilde for a 100,000th audience!
